Knife Gate Valves

Standard Habonim Ball Valves, with no special preparation can effectively be used in vacuum service down to 20 microns. When Higher Vacuum Service is required, valves specially prepared, can be used down to 10-6 mm of mercury.

Valves for Higher Vacuum Service, would require to have all the valve components -"CLEAN", "DRY ASSEMBLED","TESTED", "BAGGED AND SEALED IN POLYETHYLENE BAGS" with "SILICA GELS" and clearly marked for Vacuum Service.

To avoid confusion as a result of the various ways of measuring Vacuum Service, some of the more common measurements are given below.

LOW VACUUM - 760 TORR to 200 TORR
MEDIUM VACUUM - 200 TORR to 1 TORR.
HIGH VACUUM - Down to 10-6 TORR (0.000001 mm Hg).

The Habonim "K" series Chlorine Service ball valves are suitable for use with chlorine according to the guidelines of the Chlorine Institute Pamphlet 6 for "Piping Systems for Dry Chlorine".
Chlorine is a hazardous and toxic material. It is a greenish-yellow, nonflammable gas with a distinctive, pungent odor. The gas acts as a severe irritant if inhaled. Chlorine is nonflammable in both gaseous and liquid states.
Valves for Dry Chlorine Systems are used with chlorine in dry or liquid state at temperatures between -101C (-150F) and +149C (+300F). In general, steel piping is recommended for handling dry chlorine, defined as containing no more than 150 PPM of water by weight. Carbon steel is not recommended for service below -29C (-20F). It ignites in chlorine near 251C (483F). Stainless steels Type 300 series have useful properties for service at low temperatures but can fail due to Chloride stress cracking, particularly in presence of moisture at ambient and elevated temperatures. Monel and Hasteloy-C are the recommended material for ball and stem, with reinforced PTFE seats. Body seal and stem seal can be PTFE, or graphite for firesafe valves.
0-20 PPM Hasteloy-C ball and Monel stem
20-50 PPM Hasteloy-C ball and stem
0-50 PPM Hasteloy-C ball and stem (For end of line service)

The ball has a relief hole on it's upstream side, to insure that excess pressure in the ball and body cavity of closed valve will relieve spontaneously toward the direction of high pressure. The valve has a directional arrow, showing the flow direction.
The valve has a blowout proof stem. Stem seals can be externally adjusted. Valves are available in Firesafe construction.

Habonim carries a wide selection of valves suitable to fulfill most applications. Flanged valves from 1/2" to 8" (Class 150 and 300), or three piece valves from 1/4" to 4". Valves are specially degreased, cleaned, assembled and packed in a cleanroom in accordance with "Habonim ball valves for Chlorine Service" specifications. Special chlorine service lubricants are used for valve seats and stem seals. Valves with desiccants (silica gels) are bagged and sealed in polyethylene bags, tagged with a sticker "For Chlorine Service".
Valves for chlorine service are identified by a letter "K" before the series number. Valve sizes 1/4" to 2" are fitted with a yellow sleeve on the wrench.

Habonim Ball Valves are entirely suitable for use with oxygen. They are used in significant quantities by many oxygen users. However certain precautions regarding choice of material and cleanliness must be observed.
The slightest trace of oil is sufficient to produce combustion.
P.T.F.E ( TEFLON )is inert in oxygen and is the standard seat/seal material chosen for Oxygen Service.
Stainless steel and Bronze are the preferred materials for all metal components coming in contact with oxygen.
All components of the HABONIM OXYGEN SERVICE VALVES are deburred to a high standard and carefully cleaned before assembly.
Assembly is carried out with lint-free gloved hands to assure no ingress of grease or dirt.
Upon satisfactory assembly and test, the valves are tagged and labelled "Degreased for Oxygen Service Oil or Grease must not be applied".
The capped valves are then each placed in a clean polythene bag and heat sealed.

After specifying the type of valve required, state type & number of connection needed for the jacket as follows:
Service No.of Conn. Type of Conn. Size of Conn.
SJ 2-two inlet N-NPT thread 05 for 1/2"
3-three inlet P-Bspt thread 07 for 3/4"
S-SW 10 for 1"

A-ANSI Flange
D-DIN Flange
HABONIM valves with extended butt weld or socket weld ends, can be welded into the process line, without dismantling the valve. Damage, to precision-made components is thus avoided and installation time saved.
